Air Filters
Description
The air filter’s job is to keep dirt out of your engine and fuel system. Over time, dirt builds up and restricts the flow of air through the filter and that affects fuel economy and performance. Once this happens, it needs to be replaced with a new one. Air filters generally should be replaced about once a year, but a visual inspection is the best indicator of true wear.
Pollen and dust can enter the interior of your car through the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. Cabin air filters are used to filter, and clean the air in the car before you breathe it.
When this filter becomes clogged with contaminants, it reduces the amount of air entering your vehicle. Over time, this can lead to musty odours, as well as decreased HVAC performance. When this happens you will have a defroster that takes longer to clear the windows.
About 50% of all cars on the road have a cabin air filter. Replace these filters according to your manufacturer’s required replacement interval, usually once a year or every 25,000 kms. If you’re not sure if your vehicle has a cabin air filter, ask a PRO OIL CHANGE service technician to check for you.
PRO OIL CHANGE technicians:
- remove and inspect the old cabin air filter
- install a new cabin air filter
